Is Chatbase free? The Free plan on the pricing page, in the docs and on Shopify
Chatbase has a Free account with 50 credits and 1 MB of data, but only its Shopify App Store listing states these limits. The pricing page on chatbase.co shows three paid plans with a "Start 7-day trial" button and Enterprise with custom pricing.

None of these sources says whether the 50 Chatbase credits renew monthly or which models a Free account can use. The 7-day trial is available only when you buy through Chatbase, not when you are billed through Shopify (Shopify integration docs).
How much does Chatbase cost in 2026: plans and add-ons
Chatbase costs from $40 a month (Hobby) to $500 (Pro), or 20% less on annual billing: $32, $120 and $400 a month. Prices are in USD; the pricing page says nothing about sales tax or VAT.

Every paid Chatbase plan includes 40 MB of training content per agent (extracted text, not file size). On October 15, 2026 the pricing page listed 10, 20 and 40 MB, and the Shopify listing still shows 10 MB for Hobby. The Chatbase helpdesk, API access, voice and weekly auto-resync of sources start at Standard.

Hobby without the "Powered By Chatbase" label costs $139 a month: $40 for the plan plus $99 for the add-on spread over 12 months.
Chatbase message credits: what one reply costs
A message credit is Chatbase's billing unit: each request to the AI model uses 1 to 5 credits, depending on the model. According to the model list in the docs: Auto, GPT-6 Luna and Claude 5.5 Haiku: 1 credit; GPT-6.1 Sol and Claude 5.5 Sonnet: 2; GPT-5.5: 4; Claude 5.5 Opus: 5.

Enabled Chatbase actions (for example Shopify or calendar actions) can raise usage, because the agent then sends several model requests per reply. The pricing FAQ gives an example: booking through a calendar action takes 2 requests, so twice the credits.
Chatbase subscription credits renew on the 1st of each calendar month and do not carry over. Recharge credits do not expire. Price per credit: $0.057 on Hobby, $0.0375 on Standard, about $0.033 on Pro and $0.04 in a recharge.
What Chatbase costs at 100, 300 and 1,000 chats a month
At 300 chats of 4 messages, the cheapest Chatbase option is Hobby plus one recharge, $80 a month; for the free chatbot by Roition you pay us $0, and OpenAI tokens come to about $0.97 ($0.79-1.27) by our estimate.
Assumptions: 4 customer messages per chat (typical) or 10 (long), one AI reply per message, a 1-credit model, no actions, monthly billing, recharges in packs of 1,000 credits.

Chatbase recharge credits do not expire, so the unused part of a pack stays in the account. A 2-credit model doubles credit usage, and a different OpenAI model also raises token cost.
For the free chatbot by Roition, the cost is our estimate for the default GPT-6 Luna model, not a figure from an invoice. "Not on the page" does not mean the feature does not exist: in the Chatbase column we list only what Chatbase states on its pricing page and in its docs.
Chatbase for Shopify, WooCommerce and other platforms, and where data goes
Chatbase has a Shopify app and a WordPress plugin; its docs describe no integration for WooCommerce, PrestaShop or the Polish platforms Shoper and IdoSell. On those stores you embed the widget with code, without ready-made store actions; the docs describe Custom Actions that call your own API.

Chatbase's Shopify actions do not cancel orders or change the shipping address. A guest (a customer without an account) looks up an order with their email or phone number plus the order number.
According to the Chatbase DPA, primary processing takes place in the United States (Chatbase Inc., Delaware, San Francisco address). The docs add that with Mistral models the main model call runs on servers in the EU, while other steps may be processed outside the EU.
The free chatbot by Roition sends chats to the OpenAI API on your key and stores them in the dashboard so you can read them. We do not currently offer a data processing agreement.
Chatbase or the free chatbot by Roition: features by scenario
